Creative Writing Plan

Essay Topic: How I met my Fear

During the holidays I will be practicing my essay writing skills for the coming term. Each day, hopefully, I will post an essay topic, whether it be narrative, persuasive of creative est.

Topic 1: How I met my Fear.

It was a fear that hid in plain sight. Layla was not one for jump-scares but, this was an unsuspecting tragedy. She has two dogs, she had three. Golden retrievers with slick backs, howling at the wind. She watched every day as they grew, matured and goofed-about. An intruder in the name of friendship appeared at her doorstep. Dogs need to socialize, they need space. Layla didn't mention the breed of their new friend, it would cause havoc among the community. She supervised the visits of course. She interrogated the owner, a very tenacious woman. She spoke in an authorial voice, always ending her words with," Ag". As if she loathed her own voice, it was a bit deeper than usual. Her dog sort of embodied her robust personality, it too had a strong presence. Its bark would cause the trees to tremble, their leaves to rattle. Layla's Labradors adored it, adored her. There were now four dogs in the yard, one was male and the other female including the new-comer.

The one day Layla let her guard down. There was a scuffle in the yard that soon turned to a hazed shuffle. Gargles from deep within animal nature erupted, breaking the neighborhoods silence. Squeals and cries sent a radar for the alarms in hearts to go berserk. She felt it first like a dart nailed to her anxiety, her fear appeared. She was stunned, a female to a foe. Her friend was the same, pale-faced and mute. The new-comer was not the culprit, her own dog was.
