1.The poison Artist
-Jonathan Moore
poison artist.jpg

Poison Artist- By Jonathan Moore, Let’s delve into this crime thriller, with a new twist. Focusing our attention on a toxicologist rather than a detective, his forensic and biological abilities far exceed that of which stereotype deems. Caleb Maddox, who frequents bars during the nights and uncovers bodies during the day is not the average scientist. There's an artistic undertone in the novel, which adds to the title Poison artist. But one may ask, Who or what is a poison artist?

Fellow art-lovers would recognize his quick-witted analysis of paintings while on the job. Describing the brushstrokes and hidden emotion, Moore is able to sway thought from gruesome scenes to that of melancholic view. There’s one artist in general, only mentioned a few times but his presence lingers while reading the novel, why? There’s a drink, that Caleb finds in an ominous bar called ‘Berthe de Joux’, the history behind the drink adds to the story’s mysterious puzzle. This drink carried a mysterious beauty in the form of a woman. The only weak point of the novel is the dragged thrill of the ride, where Caleb is on a constant mission of finding this woman. Although unlike other authors that style is very descriptive, Jonathan Moore is more straight to the point. But not in reaching the rising action, he seems to want you to be sitting on the edge of your seat in a ride that seems a bit too long.

What I appreciated in the novel is his style, his sense of ambiguity when Caleb obsesses over the mysterious women. The book isn’t about artists per se, so don’t think Picasso will appear. There’s one, inspired by another having criminal intent. If you’re patient, then waiting till the end will be satisfying, it’s incredibly suspenseful. If you’re an impatient reader like me, you’d feel that the book is dragging along. I’d rate this book, 4/5 because although in certain areas I would be confused about the plot, I’d still get the overall picture and although there’s a cliff-hanger, the ending is satisfactory.

The reason for the confusion is because while drinking, Berthe de Joux, with the women of his dreams, he follows her to the most peculiar of places, getting straight to the point’. There’s that saying again, Getting straight to the point, unlike authors like Dean Koontz he doesn’t give a lot of description of places, but just enough for you to understand. And I think, his style is the reason why his a memorable author on my list.

I've recently finished Kellerman's book called Monster. Which was an interesting read, from the first page to the last.A crime fiction novel that delves into the mind of a psychopath, reminds me of the book Mr Murder by Dean Koontz. There's nothing more riveting than looking into the mind of c killer, there books I highly recommend. I should write a review on them to give you more detail.

This is a comical outlook on crushing on someone a little TOO hard and is based on my own experiences. I do not encourage or endorse serious stalking by following someone or trespassing their property, etc. There's a fine line between being a little too obsessed with someone and being willing to do ANYTHING to be with them or just freak them out or whatever. The victim is just as human as anyone else, and being stalked is actually quite terrifying. This is just meant for comedy and for people to relate to when they crush too hard,so I hope that no one takes this to heart.

Being a teen is hard in general. But throw in being a Christian and things get a bit harder. In this book I will be trying to teach every teen that they are loved, beautuful, and so much more than the world tells them. This book will sort of be an advice/devotional. I hope you all enjoy!

This book is basically about a typical teenage girl where i'll be unfolding all the deepest thoughts and secrets that can possibly go through a teen's mind, from struggling with sexuality and feelings towards others to school and life and other stuff. all the characters in this book are fictional. there will be some self hate and maybe self harm..so if you don't like these kind of stuff or get triggered kindly skip the part where you feel uncomfortable reading.

2.King

-Gareth Crocker, #1 New York times best seller

king.jpg

Inspired by the critically endangered species of white lions. King, rescued by a few individuals who do not stand for the illegal trafficking of animals. As quoted from a fellow animal lover, this book is for the lionhearted. Gareth Crocker has done another heart throbbing novel, Finding Jack. I find it amazing, how as an African, he is able to portray his sense of the wild in his writing skills. As a South African, he chooses a species originating from the heart of the Greater Timbavati Region, to be a voice for the voiceless in a way.

Crocker’s storytelling ability is able to create characters with cracking mentalities and one pet-like, wild animal. I fell in love with the lion, and how Crocker was able to describe his cat-like tendencies. I don’t know whether it’s because of Harper, a little girl with autism who finds solace in a lion. The main character Elijah who experiences physiological problems due to the death of his wife and like any addict, he tried to escape his reality. Then came along a lion with diamond eyes looking at him as if he were the world in a box.

I’d recommend this book, not only because I have strong emotions towards the cruelty of animals, or the love for them. But because the overall message, is deep seethed. A pure soul, in the form of a lion, enters the lives of a small group of people. With the attachment that comes along having a furry friend, King becomes part of the family. The only con, I’d derive from the book would be its stereotypical element. Some would argue it’s a cliche, other’s would think all animal stories end in the same way. The hard truth is that there are less than 12 white lions in the wild.Did you know that? This book has brought me to the acknowledgment of their current endangerment, and with it, I’ve sighed a petition for saving white lions. It’s surprising, not many people know of their existence, trust me I’ve asked around. But, being able to see one up-close, but in a cage, speaks for itself. ‘How far will you go to save the ones you love?’, even if they’re four-legged.

To describe the heart of an animal, is difficult. But to feel it’s heart in your hands when it looks at you is another thing. A moment of grace is shared between a human and an animal, it’s indescribable, how so? I’ve experienced it with my puppy once, funny to say, we had a moment. I yelled at it for tearing my shoe apart, but it looked at me stunned. Twirled it’s tail and trotted towards me, nonchalant to my discipline efforts it rested its head on my lap. I just watched him, doze off into his own world. That is how Kings should be, don’t you think?  They should be at ‘home’, staring into the sky. A picture with nine birds in front of them, flying towards the sun. Etched into the clouds is a single word.

Dragon Tears
-Dean Koontz
dean koontz.jpg

The novel involves the main character Harry Lyon, who’s more of mild-mannered old-soul than his partner Connie Gulliver. Who’s his complete opposite, lacking his OCD to tidiness, and having her loud rants about the pre-millennium cotillion’. Describing the modern world as ‘ the Age of Chaos’,   Connie’s detective instinct fumbles at the glory of a misshapen heart. Both characters grow in the novel, they discover things about themselves and each other. What I appreciated was that the assailant or criminal, in this case, was deemed otherworldly. How do you fight a monster that can manifest from the air and turn into a cascade of rodents? Nonetheless, a villain with the name Ticktock.

It’s professional and untimely, do I have any objections to his writing? No, for a matter of fact I enjoyed the story as it grew because in one corner there were the detectives, on the other was women and her child trying to survive. Then comes along a quizzical mutt that makes the story, well for me. I would have preferred a better ending though, but who knows maybe other readers may have preferred a kind of furtive smile. The only thing peculiar, which adds to the suspense of the novel is that the monstrous criminal was on the verge of Becoming. Becoming what? You’re going to have to read the book to find out. I'd rate this book a 3/4, just because unlike other authors Dean Koontz is very descriptive, which can make impatient readers like me hard to deal with. What he gains from this style, is writing in a way that merges fiction and the supernatural.
